| In an effort to support the families of children bound to a hospital for any stretch of time, a collection of San Diego's top chefs are donating the time and expertise to host cooking classes to benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Diego (RMHCSD). Calling the series "Cooking with Love," the RMHCSD will invite classes of up to 70 students to participate in hands-on cooking demonstrations at the organization's newest facility, a 47-bedroom home away from home that boasts both a sterile commercial kitchen and a warmer home-style kitchen that features a number of stovetops, counters and 47 separate refrigerators so that guests can prepare their own family meals. Participating chefs will teach participants any number of recipes including mushroom risotto, chicken and dumplings and red velvet cupcakes. They will also instruct guests on the best ways to prepare, serve and clean up after and during a meal service. Many professionals opt to use buffet chafers when serving a large crowd, as the safe and sturdy devices do an excellent job of keeping food hot and can be easily cleaned up at the end of service. |
