| Despite the popular image of the reluctant male creating a meal in the kitchen, a new study is showing that not only do men like to eat more but they'd rather be cooking as well. Online cooking advocates, Allrecipes.com, surveyed thousands of online users about their eating habits and preferences. What they found was that 82 percent of men enjoy preparing meals as opposed to 75 percent of women. And while the common image of men cooking might involve tailgating racks loaded down with Buffalo wings, grills covered in burgers and hot dogs or a frustrated father preparing macaroni and cheese for their kids while their mom is away, the study also found that men are more willing to put time into a complicated meal than women - with 57 percent of men willing to cook for as long as it takes, and 52 percent of women preferring to finish within 40 minutes. On the whole, men tended to prefer spicy and meaty meals cooked on a grill, whereas women preferred healthy and savory options. When serving from a grill, it's important to keep food hot so that it maintains its flavor. Chefs – male and female - might consider investing in buffet chafers to keep food hot while they manage the meat and veggies currently cooking on the grill. |
