| With a mascot like Blaze the Dragon, it's no surprise that students at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) know the importance of keeping food hot. The distinguished university hopes to inspire members of the legal community to do the same as the school holds the sixth annual UAB Magic City Chili Cook-Off later in the month. The event will task Birmingham-area attorneys and others in the legal profession to craft the finest chili recipes they can concoct with a panel of local court judges deciding the overall winner. The community itself will vote for superlative entries including "people's choice" and "best table decoration." When preparing chili for a cook-off, heat is one of the most important factors in the cooking process. Chefs would be advised to invest in dinner chafers which can keep a pot of chili hot while they prepare a second dish or converse with guests and judges. Proceeds from the event will be used to support UAB's pre-law program by funding scholarships for underprivileged applicants and the organizations award-winning undergraduate mock trial team. |
