| When presented with the prospect of a buffet, many people are anxious to pile on their favorite comfort foods with little regard for the fat and caloric intake they may be consuming in the process. Yet one restaurant in Cape May, New Jersey, is turning the buffet line's unhealthy image on its ear with a lunch buffet designed to promote healthy hearts and lifestyles. In honor of the American Heart Association's Go Red Awareness Month, the Loyalton restaurant is hosting the Healthy Heart Buffet Lunch - a combination of healthy food and health education efforts. The event will feature healthy treats kept piping hot by buffet chafers, and a series of lectures from a group of public health experts from local healthcare providers who will discuss issues affecting the heart health of the people of New Jersey. Topics will include nutrition's effect on heart disease, women's issues and prevention. The experts will also be performing free blood pressure and cholesterol screening. Red Dress pins will be offered to the first 100 women to attend, and a door prize will be given to one lucky guest. ![]() |
