On Cooking Light's list of the 25 most common cooking mistakes there are many factors that can contribute to a failed meal, yet few steps seem as integral as keeping food hot. Nearly half of the items on the list are directly related to the temperature of the food items with common offenses including rushing the caramelization of onions, not allowing meat to rest before serving and not getting the pan hot enough before adding food. One way cooks are keeping food hot while their attentions are drawn elsewhere, mistake number 20 on the list, is by using dinner chafers during meal preparation and service. The lightweight and sturdy devices are also a cinch to clean after use, leaving more time to prepare a second course or converse with friends and guests. Other common mistakes that the site calls out include not tasting as you go, not reading the entire recipe before beginning to cook and overcrowding a pan. |
